I made my first visit to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 2006. Upon entering LACMA, I was overwhelmed by the sheer size of Tony Smith's Smoke sculpture and I hastily snapped a few photos (as tourists do). I put my camera back into my bag and quickly found myself captivated by the perfectly constructed maze of towering metal.
I came across one of the aforementioned photos at the end of 2009, and to my surprise, this particular photo seemed to capture the size and symmetry of the sculpture quite well. I opened the image in Photoshop and within forty minutes I had designed the first version of the poster you see below.
